Kiteboardin.com exists because I got tired of gear roundups written by people who’d never felt a kite load up in real wind. I’ve been kiteboarding for over 20 years — through the transition from four-line C-kites to modern bridled bows, across dozens of beaches, sandbars, sounds, and inlets on both sides of this country.
Two Decades of Rigging Up
Over the years I’ve ridden a lot of brands and put serious hours on flagship gear from the likes of Cabrinha and other high-end kite manufacturers. That time taught me what actually matters on a travel setup: canopy durability, bar comfort on long sessions, how a board handles chop versus flat water, and which “nice to have” accessories are the ones you actually miss when you forget them.
Why Spot-First
Wind is local. The same 18 knots is a dream on a flat sound and a nightmare on a rocky, offshore-wind beach. So this site leads with place — where to launch, when the season fires, what the water does, and who each spot suits — and only then talks gear. Every recommendation is tied to conditions, from light-wind foil kites to cold-water hooded wetsuits.
